Brentwood Fashion Show To Help Women In Need - Contracostatimes.com

Men's Clothing Sales Outpace Ladies' - Investors.com

Traveling Pants and Mary Kay will hold the event at 2 p.m. May 18 at 3860 Balfour Road, Suite F, Brentwood. Models will sport Mary Kay makeup and wear outfits and accessories from Traveling Pants, a women's clothing boutique that buys and sells designer clothes at deep discounts. Cost is $3 at the door. Refreshments will be served. Raffle tickets will be sold for prizes that include dinners and services. All funds from the event will go toward Pillars of Hope, a nonprofit dedicated to helping women who are trying to forge new lives for themselves after being caught up in prostitution.

While the women's apparel market grew by only 4% last year, sales totaled $116.4 billion, or more than double the men's total. Sales of men's pants rose 12% to $4.8 billion, and socks grew by 14% to $2.8 billion. The only one of the 13 categories tracked by the market-research group NPD in men's apparel to see dollar sales decline was men's tops, with a 2% decrease. "Innovation and men's perception of fashion contributed to an increase in spending in 2013," said Marshal Cohen, chief industry analyst for NPD.
